Let&#8217;s go swimming | Part 1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where to cool down in and around Klosterneuburg &amp; Vienna<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether you want to swim in an outdoor or indoor pool, in the river Danube, in a lido or in natural waters, there are numerous opportunities to spend time in the water in Vienna and the surrounding area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this first part I will present you a collection of 8 tips where you can go swimming in and around of Klosterneuburg. Some of them also offer a swimming pool, some are entirely natural. It is located 15 kilometers from Vienna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It had its heyday particularly in the interwar period! On individual weekends, up to 12,000 visitors from all social classes enjoyed the cool waters of the Danube, along the inviting Danube beach alongside the open-air pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, the spacious facility is no longer operated as an open-air pool, but the sunbathing lawn on the banks of the Danube is still freely accessible. No entry fee!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The baths are rarely overcrowded &#8211; the spacious sunbathing areas are a wonderful place to relax and you can enjoy a picnic in the shade of the trees. The Danube water is ice-cold and refreshing &#8211; but weaker swimmers and children should be careful, as the current of the Danube can easily carry you off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a bite to eat, you can visit the local inn, where live music is occasionally played at the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How to get there<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By public transport:<\/strong> take the S-Bahn &#8220;S 40&#8221; will take you to Kritzendorf station in around 45 minutes. From there, it&#8217;s just a 10-minute walk along an access road to the Danube.<br><strong>by car: <\/strong>road B14 to Klosterneuburg, then &#8220;Hauptstrasse&#8221; until you reach Kritzendorf. There is a playground on the spacious lawn, the first few metres into the water are very shallow and the gravel bottom is neither sharp nor muddy. Next door you can hire sailing, pedal or electric boats and the first-class sausage salad at the buffet restaurant <a href=\"http:\/\/www.staw.at\/Alte_Hafenschenke_9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alte Hafenschenke<\/a> is reminiscent of Austrian childhood days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want to escape the ball game, you can swim to the other shore (or simply cross the nearby bridge). The overgrown part offers small bays for nature lovers and nude swimmers. Friedel Gastro at the end of the bay regularly organises small concerts and parties in summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No entry fee<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How to get there<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By public transport<\/strong>: with the S40 to Greifenstein-Altenberg. For those who need a break from the sun, the many trees provide shade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The natural pool offers a football and street soccer pitch, a swimming island, catering, beach volleyball and a parent-child area with a playground. Entry fee for the whole day is 6 EUR, from 1 pm only 3 EUR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How to get there<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We always travel <strong>by car<\/strong> with bag and baggage and park in the free car park: motorway A 22, exit &#8220;Strebersdorf&#8221;<br><br>For the more sporty among you: it&#8217;s also not far and easy to reach <strong>by bike<\/strong> from the Vienna city limits (Strebersdorf). Many visitors and families come by bike, and what&#8217;s particularly practical is that you can take your bikes into the premisses.<br><br>If you want to go there <strong>by public transport<\/strong>, please take into account that the walk from the tram stop to the swimming area takes ca.  20 minutes!<br>Take the S3 in the direction of Stockerau or S4 in the direction of Absdorf-Hippersdorf from Vienna Central Station. It is an ideal destination in Lower Austria for families, amateur athletes and connoisseurs. In total, the public bath covers an area of \u200b\u200b30 hectares<strong>:<\/strong> 2\/3 of the shore of the lake consists of sunbathing lawns while 1\/3 is natural and overgrown with reeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can find all <a href=\"https:\/\/erleben.tulln.at\/en\/danube\/discover\/the-aubad-tulln-experience\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">entry prices and opening hours<\/a> here.If you don\u2019t want to eat in one of the three restaurants, there are <strong>six barbecue areas for rent<\/strong> in the eastern part of the bath.
